1997 Conservation Award

Jeff Thompson, President of Native Plant Source, was awarded the 1997 Conservation Award (K-W Field Naturalists) for his efforts and accomplishment in ecological restoration.

Environmental Achievement Award

Ontario Ministry of Environment and Energy (May 1996), presented to Union Gas for the environmental restoration of the Brantford Service Facility.

Outstanding Planning Award
Provincial Professional Merit Award for Urban/City Design

Planning and design of the West Side Trail System within the Forested Hills Environmentally Sensitive Policy. This required detailed biological inventories, impact assessment and vegetation restoration plan to protect rare breeding birds (i.e. acadian flycatchers) and minimize environmental impacts. This project received the Outstanding Planning Award from the Professional Planners Institute and the Provincial Professional Merit Award for Urban/City Design. Client: City of Waterloo.

Exceptional and Distinguished Achievement in Great Lakes Ecosystem Improvement Award

The Exceptional and Distinguished Achievement in Great Lakes Ecosystem Improvement Award was presented to Union Gas for the recreation of Brant Prairie and wetland protection by the International Committee for the Great Lakes during their State of the Great Lakes Ecosystem Conference (April 1998).
